An Institute on the Savannah Waterfront

Savannah, Georgia

The Savannah Waterfront offers a dynamic context within which to intervene. The commercial activity on the waterfront serves to engage the pedestrian. The city fabric gives a prominent role to public space and to the pedestrian experience. The project makes use of various programmatic elements assembled to references the urban fabric and emphasizes the public domain as the spatial organizer. The project consist of a restaurant, culinary institute and urban micro-farm, all of which react to a large exterior void that bridges the city and waterfront, all the while creating intimate public space to engage the pedestrian. The elevation change between the city and the waterfront emphasize the sectional relationship between the two zones.
